Community Standards

These community standards will take effect on January 8, 2025. All members are required to comply with these guidelines from the effective date forward.

Purpose

These community guidelines are established to ensure professional, respectful, and productive communication between all members of our NiceRoute Internet Exchange. Our goal is to maintain a collaborative environment that promotes technical excellence and mutual respect among all participating organizations.

Core Principles

  1. Professional Communication

    • All communication between members must remain professional and respectful

    • Focus on technical issues and business matters

    • Use appropriate language and maintain a constructive tone

    • Avoid personal attacks or inflammatory statements

  2. Prohibited Behaviors

    • Verbal abuse or harassment of any kind

    • Discriminatory language or behavior

    • Threats or intimidation

    • Deliberate spreading of false information

    • Public shaming of other members

    • Using offensive or inappropriate language

    • Intentionally disruptive behavior

  3. Dispute Resolution

    • Address technical disagreements with factual evidence

    • Follow established protocols for reporting network issues

    • Utilize appropriate channels for escalating concerns

    • Maintain documentation of all significant interactions

Enforcement Approach

Our enforcement approach begins with understanding and guidance. When issues arise, we first provide advisory notices that explain any violations and offer guidance for improvement. If problems persist, we move to formal warnings that outline potential consequences. In serious cases where other measures have proven ineffective, membership termination may be necessary, though members always have the opportunity to appeal such decisions within 72 hours.

Reporting Procedures

  1. Document the incident with:

    • Date and time

    • Involved parties

    • Nature of the violation

    • Supporting evidence (logs, communications)

  2. Submit reports through:

    • Direct email to compliance@nrix.org

    • Mail the relevant documents in paper to P.O.BOX 88., Dihua St., Datong Dist., Taipei City 103, Taiwan.

Communication Best Practices

For successful communication about technical matters, we encourage members to provide comprehensive information while following standard procedures. Similarly, business communications should remain focused and professional, utilizing appropriate channels for different types of discussions.

Ongoing Development

We continuously evolve these guidelines through annual reviews and member feedback. Training sessions are provided to help members understand and implement these practices effectively.

Member Commitment

By participating in our community, members agree to uphold these standards and contribute to maintaining a positive environment. The operation team is available at operation@nrix.org to provide clarification or address any questions about these guidelines.
